West Ham table bid for Manchester City midfielder Yangel Herrera

West Ham have made an offer for Manchester City and Venezuela midfielder Yangel Herrera, according to FUTVE English.

The Twitter account specialises in Venezuelan football and is followed by NY Times journalist Tariq Panja and Canadian-Venezuelan Rangers Women footballer Sonia O’Neill.

They have had Venezuelan footballers on their podcast, like Oliver Cawthorne, and this latest claim was quote-tweeted by a Twitter-verified South-American football reporter.

On Friday [23/07/21] they wrote: “There are ‘offers on the table’ for Yangel Herrera from four Premier League clubs.

“FUTVE English have been reliably informed Crystal Palace, Southampton, West Ham and Leeds are all after the Manchester City midfielder.

“The strongest offer is from Crystal Palace.”

The 23-year-old central midfielder would be a terrific signing if the Irons can beat off interest from a trio of Premier League rivals.

Herrera has shone out on loan at La Liga outfit Granada over the last two seasons and impressed on international duty with Venezuela, though he was forced to sit out the majority of the recent Copa America tournament after suffering a minor fracture to his right tibia.

Hopefully, he is not ruled out for an extended period and can seal a transfer away from the Premier League champions this summer, who he is yet to play for despite joining in 2017.

David Moyes needs to sign a central midfielder this summer with Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Mark Noble the only three senior options in there, with the latter set to retire at the end of the season.

Herrera would seem to fit the profile of player desired by Moyes as an energetic, box-to-box midfielder.

As well as being tenacious in the tackle the 21-cap international has shown he can weigh in with goals as well, scoring eight in 42 appearances last season.

Remarkably, he netted five in eight Europa League games as Granada advanced to the quarter-finals before succumbing to Manchester United.

In other West Ham news, the Irons want to sign this ‘Unbelievable’ Premier League ace dubbed a ‘Monster’ by Jamie Carragher.
