West Ham table £50m ‘offer’ via email, it wasn’t for Everton ace Calvert-Lewin – ExWHUemployee
West Ham have made a £50million bid via email for an unnamed striker – but it wasn’t for Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to ExWHUemployee.
Writing on the West Ham Way’s Patreon account, the reliable Hammers insider reports the so-called offer “never reached beyond email discussions” and it didn’t make the public domain due to it being rejected.
Everton striker Calvert-Lewin, 24, has been linked with a £60million move to the London Stadium by The Sun. Despite this, Ex says the £50million email discussions were not about the Goodison Park star.

He instead names Bayer Leverkusen’s Patrik Schick and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri as two strikers who West Ham are interested in that would be within that price range.
Running out of time
Do West Ham need to be spending so much money on a new striker?
Of course, it’ll be hard to convince someone to come in and serve as Moyes’ second-choice striker behind Michail Antonio in the pecking order. But things are going so well that no one is calling for Antonio to be dropped or replaced.
We need another option in the attack but we don’t need an outright upgrade or replacement on Antonio, especially not in this transfer window as a £50million splurge could go horribly wrong.
Instead, we would much prefer the club to be looking into young, up-and-coming strikers, perhaps no older than 21, and signing them on a cheaper deal than whatever it would cost for Schick or En-Nesyri.

Calvert-Lewin would be perfect though.
He’s had his injury issues this season but he’s shown in the last year and a half that he’s a prolific Premier League goalscorer.
The England international is also great in the air and would really match up to the way we’ve been utilising Antonio.
Let’s have a go at signing him in the summer if we can as if we make the Champions League then we’ll have a massive chance – especially if Everton are relegated.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are in talks today (28 January) over a last-ditch signing after a bid was tabled.
