West Ham swoop on cards for Igor Paixao as sources share £24.9m transfer news

West Ham United are among the clubs interested in signing Igor Paixao from Feyenoord, according to CaughtOffside.

The outlet reported via their website on 6 January that the Irons scouts have been impressed by the 24-year-old after watching him in action.

Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Tottenham have also tracked the Brazilian, who could link up with fellow countrymen Lucas Paqueta and Luis Guilherme at West Ham, while he is attracting interest from AS Roma in Italy as well.

Sources have told CaughtOffside that the winger could leave Feyenoord for £24.9-29million.

Tim Steidten eye Igor Paixao swoop at West Ham

This will be an interesting transfer window for West Ham as it is not all smooth sailing at the London Stadium as things stand.

Julen Lopetegui is under increasing pressure amid reports that he could be sacked before the Hammers’ home game against Fulham next Tuesday, 14 January.

Meanwhile, tensions between Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have boiled over, with the former asking the latter to stay away from the training ground [The Guardian].

The head coach and the recruitment chief not being on good terms is not a good thing for the Irons, who are currently placed 14th in the Premier League.

It would, therefore, be interesting to see how West Ham approach their interest in Paixao this month.

They may have an edge over the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool as they could offer the attacker more playing time.

However, the lack of harmony between two of the most important people at the club is likely to put them at a disadvantage.

In other West Ham news, this manager could be days away from taking the reins at the London Stadium.
