West Ham swoop for Raul Jimenez on as Fulham striker now clear over future
Nuno Espirito Santo could eye a reunion with Raul Jimenez, with the Mexican striker looking to stay in England following the end of his Fulham contract.
That is according to Mexican news outlet El Futbolero, who report on the Hammers’ interest in the 34-year-old striker.
The Fulham number nine has previously worked under Nuno at Wolves, where he contributed to 65 goals across three seasons at Molineux.
With Callum Wilson likely to leave West Ham in the summer, the veteran forward could be an ideal replacement due to his experience in England.

What has been said about Raul Jimenez’s future?
Jimenez’s contract at Fulham is set to expire at the end of the season, and so far there appears to be no movement on him extending his stay at Craven Cottage.
This now leaves the 67-Premier League-goal forward available on a free transfer in the summer.
As per the report on Jimenez, the player believes “he still has the necessary skill level to compete in a highly demanding league like the English Premier League”.

Additionally, following the World Cup, his desire is to remain in England’s top flight.
Of course, depending on West Ham’s status come the end of the season, the London Stadium side could be a possible destination for the Mexican.
El Futbolero quotes previous reports from TUDN which reveal that West Ham and Everton have shown interest in the forward, opening the door for a move.

The other upside of Raul Jimenez joining West Ham
While signing Jimenez as an experienced Premier League option would be a shrewd signing for free, there is another positive to bringing him in.
The Fulham forward typically looks forward to facing the Hammers, as he has scored seven goals in 12 appearances against the East London club.
This includes the late winner scored against West Ham earlier this season.
Taking him away from another Premier League side would leave Nuno and the Irons one less player to worry about next season.
However, as stated, this all depends on the E20 outfit’s status among the best in England next season.
West Ham’s owners and board will likely have two separate lists drawn up ahead of the summer window. One in the event of relegation, and one if they stay up.
Hopefully, it is the latter, and Nuno can get another reunion at West Ham following his link-up with Adama Traore in January.
