West Ham sweat over Kurt Zouma medical as knee issue causes concerns
West Ham want assurances that Kurt Zouma’s knee is in good condition as he gets ready for a medical today (Thursday), according to ExWHUemployee.
Writing on his Patreon page, the reliable Irons insider reported that the swoop to sign Zouma, 26, from Chelsea is by no means a done deal and there are still a number of kinks that need to be ironed out in negotiations with the centre-back’s agent.
Zouma’s knee issue is something that needs to be closely checked by West Ham though as Ex reports the defender plays through an injury.

“At the moment the deal is as it was yesterday. There were a few agent things to be sorted out, which I broke yesterday, but ones that the club felt comfortable that they could,” said ExWHUemployee.
“The medical has still not happened, this has the potential to twist the story last minute too as it has done in recent transfers like [Said] Benrahma.
“The medical should happen today as talks continue. There are concerns that the medical could show up something regarding his knees because unproven reports have started to circulate and get back to the owners that this is the case.
“This is why you have a medical.
“Apparently he plays with the injury but the club want financial assurances against it.”

Something to worry about
In 2016, Zouma suffered a horrible cruciate ligament injury that saw him sidelined for almost a year.
Since that, as transfermarkt shows, the defender has had just one more knee injury and that only kept him out of one match while he was on loan at Stoke.
Other than that injury a few years ago, Zouma’s fitness record has been quite good but it’s a concern that the defender still sounds as though he’s been playing through the pain barrier.
All it could take is one dodgy landing from a header or one tough tackle and it could be a massive issue for West Ham, who are paying top dollar for a top Premier League centre-back.
It could leave the club with a dilemma.
Do they take the risk on a player who could get injured? Or do they take a chance on dropping out of this deal and seek other centre-backs.
According to ExWHUemployee, David Moyes really wants Zouma so the manager is likely to want to keep his faith in the Frenchman, who’s been a steady and reliable centre-back in the Premier League.
We’re happy to trust in whatever decision Moyes makes.
He’s barely steered us wrong since returning to the London Stadium.
