According to The Mirror, Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to West Ham United and have told his agent to speak with the club over a summer move.
The 29-year-old Brazilian international is not in the plans of manager Ronald Koeman and has been made available for another season-long loan exit.
Barca are ready to pay 40 per cent of his £7.7million-a-year wages, with West Ham or any other willing takers covering the rest.
The La Liga giants want a reply before the end of this week, but it remains to be seen whether the Hammers are keen.
We asked our esteemed panel of West Ham Super Fans over on Facebook what they think about having Coutinho on loan for the season, and here is how they responded.
Needed signing?
David Moyes’ men kicked off the new campaign with a 4-2 win over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday, continuing from where they stopped last season.
Said Benrahma was in fine form, excelling in a number 10 role behind the striker, but he is the only natural attacker capable of playing in that position well right now and we could do with another quality option.
Coutinho is not the player he used to be during his Liverpool days, but that has been largely due to injuries and playing under a different system.
He was a major creator-in-chief for the Reds attack, but has had to share that duty since leaving.
Having bossed the Premier League before his £130million move, a return to familiar surroundings could get the Brazilian wizard back firing on all cylinders.
West Ham could do with his creativity, and we believe taking the punt on him could be a smart decision.
Given his recent fitness struggles, there are no guarantees that he would hit the ground running at the London Stadium should we sign him, but it could be worth the risk.
