West Ham United shocked us all on Monday as they reportedly reopened talks to sign Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma.

ExWHUemployee shared the major update, insisting it makes no difference to the imminent arrival of Nikola Milenkovic.

In a stunning turn, it was suggested that both may arrive in what was described as unlikely though by the club source.

Milenkovic is the cheaper option, that much is very clear.

The Express reported earlier today that we are on the verge of a £14million deal, and that would be a brilliant piece of business.

A long term contract is also on the table for the 23-year-old, who has captained Fiorentina and made over 100 Serie A appearances.

Initial talks for Zouma broke down over the total cost, so it appears unlikely that will change unless something drastic happens.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Ham Super Fans over on Facebook if they were happy with the news, and the response was overwhelming.

The majority didn’t seem pleased and appeared to be bored of yet another twist in this hunt for a new defender.

Here’s what they said…

We would love both to arrive at the London Stadium, but in a realistic world, is that ever going to happen?

This long-standing defender hunt needs to be brought to an end soon, as it can then gives us three weeks to solve other areas of our squad.
