West Ham Super Fans react as Matheus Pereira is linked with Irons move

West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Matheus Pereira from West Brom if they’re unable to secure Jesse Lingard permanently.

According to The Express, the Irons are one of a number of clubs who are interested in the 25-year-old Baggies playmaker, who’s valued at £20million by the relegated Premier League club.

It is understood that other clubs have a more concrete interest in Pereira as West Ham’s priority remains to be signing Lingard on a permanent basis from Manchester United once his loan deal in East London expires.

We asked our panel of West Ham Super Fans whether they think Pereira would be a good enough backup plan if David Moyes isn’t able to land Lingard in the summer.

As you can see, the update on Pereira and Lingard has divided Hammers fans.

On one hand, Pereira has had a superb season at West Brom.

Even though they’ve been relegated, the left-footed Brazilian has scored 10 goals and supplied five assists in the Premier League this season which makes him one of the better attacking midfielders in the top-flight.

However, if Pereira does end up pulling on the claret and blue of West Ham next season, it would likely mean that we’ve missed out on Lingard.

Signing Pereira, therefore, would be bittersweet.

On one hand, we’d have a player who’s proven himself at an abject Premier League club with a backwards-thinking manager. While on the other hand, we’d have failed to have signed one of the best loanees the club has ever had.

If only we could do what one of the Super Fans suggested and sign both.

That would be amazing.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been tipped to beat Aston Villa to this “major signing”.
