West Ham submit loan bid to sign Cagliari striker Giovanni Simeone
Cagliari have rejected a loan bid by West Ham for Argentina striker Giovanni Simeone, according to CalcioMercato.
The Italian news website claims that the Irons had offered just £850,000 to sign Simeone, 25, on loan for the season.
It is understood the Hammers wanted an option to make the loan deal permanent but Serie A side Cagliari have booted the offer into touch.

Never going to be accepted
Simeone was barely a key player for Cagliari in Serie A last season but he still played in most matches so there was never going to be much chance of that bid being accepted.
However, if it’s true, you cannot blame the Hammers for having a go at signing a striker on such cheap terms.
Simeone didn’t exactly impress at Cagliari last season, let’s put it that way.
The five-times Argentina international, who was born in Spain, scored just six times in his 33 Serie A appearances but he only managed to start 19 of those games.

Towards the end of the campaign, Simeone was struggling to even get an appearance off the bench as he fell out of favour at the Serie A club so we don’t see what he could really offer to West Ham.
David Moyes needs a new centre-forward this summer.
However, we just don’t see how someone who struggled to get a start in Serie A would be someone who’d arrive at the London Stadium and compete with Michail Antonio for a spot in the starting line-up.
We’re not asking the club to spend huge sums of money on a new striker as they did with Sebastien Haller. We just want them to sign someone who looks up to the task.
We don’t see that in Simeone.
In other West Ham news, a £17.1million bid could be enough to prise this Euro 2020 star away from his club.
