West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca arrives in Italy ahead of Atalanta move

West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has arrived in Italy ahead of a medical today which would see him complete a move to Atalanta, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

The journalist’s official website has shared an image of Scamacca after he arrived at Ciampino airport, as he will now undergo a medical before signing a contract with the Italian outfit on Saturday [5 August].

West Ham will receive £21.6million up front, with a further £4.3million in what has been described as easily achievable bonuses. Scamacca will line up with another new signing at Atalanta in El Bilal Toure after the club lost Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United.

Money is piling up at West Ham

The sale of Scamacca will see even more money added to the pockets of the East London club, with that money seemingly burning a hole in the pockets with the club unable to agree to any incoming deals as things stand this summer.

In this case, more money could mean more problems for the Hammers, with clubs increasingly aware of both the amount of money they have and their desperation to spend it,

West Ham have seen multiple bids rejected as clubs hold out for extortionate transfer fees, largely due to the very public incoming transfer funds the club has received, making clubs believe they can get their ideal prices as West Ham has the money to pay it.

There is an increasing desire at the club to bring fresh faces in this summer, as they are currently the only club to have not made a single incoming deal [as of 5 August], despite some huge weaknesses and gaps in their squad, particularly at striker and centre-midfield.

In other West Ham news, the club want to sign another Chelsea player as a loan deal becomes available.
