West Ham striker Afolayan suggests huge update on his future is imminent
West Ham striker Dapo Afolayan has suggested something big surrounding his future is about to be announced.
The 24-year-old, who has spent the season half of the season on loan at Bolton, will be out of contract at the London Stadium next month.
It seems unlikely that he’ll win a new deal with the Hammers so his latest tweet suggests he’s about to sign elsewhere.
He took to his personal Twitter account on Thursday to say: “Anyone got a pen?”
All the best, Dapo
Afolayan was never seriously someone who we could have expected to break into the senior squad at West Ham.
We signed the striker from Solihull Moors in 2018, which was an odd move as he was 21-years-old then and had never played in the EFL.
He’s since had a few loan spells away from East London and has done well in his most recent stint at League Two promotion winners Bolton Wanderers.
During his time in League Two, Afolayan scored one goal and supplied two assists in 21 appearances as he was mainly played on the wing.
According to Football Insider, Bolton have been in advanced talks to sign Afolayan so we’d be shocked if the imminent announcement isn’t him signing for them permanently.
We wish Dapo all the best in the North-West.
He never had a chance here and always seemed to be just someone to boost the numbers in the Under-23s squad to make us more competitive in Premier League 2.
In other West Ham news, this “frustrated” fan favourite has dropped a hint about his future amid talk of him moving on.
