West Ham star Jarrod Bowen still in sights of Liverpool

Liverpool have “continued to monitor” West Ham star Jarrod Bowen this season and some details that make a move likely have been reported by The Athletic.

The Hammers attacker is reportedly represented by the PLG Agency, who also count Reds full-back duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in their ranks so a strong communication channel exists.

In an analysis of Bowen’s form and playing style, The Athletic believe that while there may be better transfer value to be found outside of England for Jurgen Klopp, there are other facts that make him particularly suitably for the Anfield side.

They write: “At 25, Bowen has the right age profile and, like [Diogo] Jota at Wolves, he already has a decent amount of experience at an elite level. He scores highly on the recruitment metrics Liverpool use.”

Concerning for Hammers

The former Hull City man’s form this season, and particularly in recent weeks, has been excellent and it is no surprise that this will have caught the attention of other clubs.

Although he somehow missed what would have been a crucial equaliser in the defeat to Leeds United at the weekend, he did score in that game, as he did in the FA Cup victory over the same side a week earlier, and a man of the match performance against Norwich in midweek where he scored both goals and only narrowly missed out on a hat-trick.

With that in mind, David Moyes will certainly not want to lose his most in-form player, especially during the January transfer window although Said Benrahma should be back sooner rather than later with Algeria struggling at the Africa Cup of Nations.

West Ham

But with Klopp already a fan of Bowen before West Ham’s great season so far this year, the forward’s form will have only pushed them closer to making a move.

He is sure to be expensive if there is an approach from Anfield, but the Reds are not afraid of splashing big money on players fitting the same sort of profile as they spent up to £45million on Wolves’ Jota (Sky Sports).

A summer offer is probably more likely but with star pair Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to be absent for some time yet, the Iron could be tempting immediately.

In other West Ham news, this hat-trick hero is reportedly unlikely to join the club currently.
