West Ham spokesperson shares PSR update amid £50m Jarrod Bowen development

West Ham have to take PSR into account ahead of the summer transfer window at the London Stadium.

The Hammers had a busy window prior to the current campaign as Julen Lopetegui made a number of additions to his squad before eventually being sacked.

The likes of Jean-Clair Todibo and Luis Guilherme have failed to hit the ground running in what has been a difficult campaign in East London.

With that being said, Graham Potter will be hoping for a busy window and will have one eye on Jarrod Bowen and the PSR situation ahead of the summer.

West Ham must make summer sale for PSR

There hasn’t been a high level of spending in E20 over the years, but there have been some big-money signings which have been made.

The likes of Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta cost a sizable amount and have had a positive impact on the whole for the Irons.

Regarldess of this prioer spending, it now appears that a sale is going to be required before any signings can be made in the upcoming window.

This has been suggested by a spokesperson for the Hammers’ owners who have suggested that players will leave but Bowen will certainly not be one of those.

Speaking to Hammers News (28 April), they said: “It’s true we have to sell to buy due to PSR, like many other clubs. Let me make this perfectly clear. Jarrod is on a long contract, and he is not for sale.”

This comes after Caught Offside reported (27 April) that both Tottenham and Liverpool were set to bid £50million for the England international.

Bowen set to stay at West Ham

There is no doubt that the 28-year-old has once again been the standout player at the London Stadium despite a lack of help from his teammates.

The versatile forward has scored nine and assisted an additional seven, which makes him the player with the most output by far in claret and blue.

As a result, losing Bowen could prove to be catastrophic, especially to such a rival like Spurs who have had a poor season in their own right.

It is certainly positive to hear that there is no intent to sell the skipper, but that could spell bad news for someone like Niclas Fullkrug moving forward.
