West Ham spokesman drops major Brobbey transfer update, he’s still in London
West Ham have made no progress in their quest to sign Ajax forward Brian Brobbey as new doubts emerge, a spokesperson told Hammers News.
Hammers News reported [26 January] that, having flown into London on Friday 24 January [Telegraaf], the 22-year-old remains in the capital but a move to the Premier League has stalled.
Now, it is understood doubts within the club have emerged over whether Brobbey is ready for a move to East London, with Tottenham pulling out of the race for his signature [Fabrizio Romano].
“[There has been] No progress. And there are doubts inside the club about whether he is ready for the Premier League. But never say never,” the spokesperson said.
Brian Brobbey to West Ham United faces new hitch
With just one goal and two assists in the Eredivisie this season, it is no wonder why concerns have emerged over signing Brobbey before 3 February.
Brobbey more than proved himself last season, notching 18 goals and eight assists, and that would be the kind of player Graham Potter could use in East London, but he is clearly devoid of confidence.
He even has seven caps for the Netherlands national team over the last three years, which is impressive given the talent on show for the Dutch, but the Hammers need someone who can make an instant impact.
The Hammers have been without Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville recently, seeing them struggle immensely in attack against Crystal Palace last time out.

Danny Ings is still at the London Stadium, but with just four Premier League starts across the last two campaigns, it is a surprise that an exit has not already been found for him.
Brobbey would be a risky signing. His current form should be a cause for concern. However, Potter is looking to put his own spin on the squad, and this could be his first signing.
In other West Ham news, the decision to get rid of a star has been made in the “last few hours” as talks with Graham Potter are scheduled.
