West Ham set to make move to sign Eddie Nketiah amid Arsenal development - Sky Sports

West Ham are set to make a move to sign Eddie Nketiah on a free transfer with the striker’s contract at Arsenal expiring this summer, according to Sky Sports.

Reporting via their live Transfer Centre [10 May, 12:00pm], Sky Sports say that talks over a new deal with the Gunners have failed to advance.

As a result, it is understood that the Irons will swoop to sign the 22-year-old, who’s scored four goals in his last four Premier League appearances.

Get it done ASAP

West Ham cannot afford to go yet another transfer window without signing a new striker.

Since selling Sebastien Haller midway through last season, the Hammers have had to play Michail Antonio, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen up front.

And let’s admit it, even though they’ve all done well in spells, none of them are out-and-out centre-forwards.

You could say that Antonio is now but really, you cannot expect to go far when you have someone who used to play at right-back spearheading your attack.

Our lack of goals have been a big issue this season but Nketiah is showing that he’s more than capable of hitting the back of the net in the Premier League.

In his last four Premier League appearances, the England Under-21 international has bagged braces against Chelsea and his former loan club Leeds United.

He’s fast, he’s clinical, he can craft chances for himself and he scores goals.

What’s not to like?

Arsenal might be due a compensation fee for Nketiah but we doubt it’ll be extortionate due to the fact that he’s set to become a free agent in a matter of weeks when his contract at the Emirates expires.

We really do like the sound of this deal.
