West Ham set to lose another youth gem as Krisztian Hegyi medical passed
West Ham gem Krisztian Hegyi looks set to leave this summer.
The Hammers have already lost the likes of Emmanuel Fejokwu and Michael Forbes from their Rush Green ranks.
Nuno Espirito Santo would have hoped to have some of the highly-rated academy talents available to him for the Championship campaign.
However, many of the London Stadium side's best starlets are moving on, to start their senior career's elsewhere, rather than waiting for opportunities in E20.
Hegyi has spent time at Stevenage, FC Den Bosch, Motherwell and Debrecen since moving to the Hammers in 2019.
Now, the Hungarian looks set to be the next departure, after new details of an exit route emerged.
What is the latest on Krisztian Hegyi's West Ham future?
Hegyi looks set to leave the Irons, amid reports emerging out of the Czech Republic.
inFotbal reported on Tuesday that the 23-year-old should arrive at Sparta Prague, the club that Daniel Kretinsky also owns.
It stated that he has already travelled to Prague and passed a medical, with "nothing to stop him from signing".
The report does not state whether it is a loan move or a permanent one.
Why Hegyi exit would be a surprise
It would be a hammer blow to lose Hegyi, if it is in fact a permanent exit.
However, if it is a loan just for more experience it makes sense to send the young stopper to the Czech club, so that he can develop more.
The Hungarian's contract was set to expire in 2027, with the Hammers holding an option to extend it by a further year, to 2028.
He admitted that he would like to make it at West Ham when he linked up with MTK Budapest in March.
He said: “I firmly believe that I will get an opportunity in England one day. I still have a one-year contract and an option."
He was in solid form in his home country, and if his exit is a full-time one, it is another very disappointing development for Nuno and Co.
It would be a surprise, given his belief that he can still make it in English football.
He may have realised that his ambitions are a long shot, though, as he has not made it into the first-team yet, and is 23 years old, and thought a new start was needed.
