West Ham send scouts to watch Besiktas striker Cyle Larin

West Ham have sent their scouts on a transfer mission to watch Besiktas striker Cyle Larin, according to 90min.

The football news website claims Tottenham are also interested in signing the Canada international, who has scored 23 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions this season.

It is understood Spurs are eyeing Larin, 26, as a potential back-up option to Harry Kane while the Hammers see the ex-Orlando City forward as a “far-cheaper alternative” than Chelsea’s £40million-rated Tammy Abraham.

Larin’s had a stunning season with Besiktas, who are closing in on winning the Turkish Super Lig title.

As it stands, Bestikas have a four-point lead at the top of the table with four matches to play.

Larin currently sits second in the top goalscorer charts with the Canadian scoring four goals in his last appearance, which came in Besiktas’ 7-0 win against Hatayspor last Saturday.

It’s no secret that West Ham need a new striker in the summer.

Michail Antonio is the only option that Moyes has in his senior squad after selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax in the January window.

While the Irons have coped with just one striker – and with no strikers while Antonio has been injured – they still need to bolster that area in the summer.

Is Larin good enough?

The Turkish Super Lig is nowhere near as good as the Premier League and it would be unwise to expect a similar goal haul from Larin in England as he’s managed there.

Mbaye Diagne was prolific in Turkey before joining West Brom on loan from Galatasaray in January and he’s scored just three times since.

It would be a risk to see Larin as the answer to West Ham’s striker issues.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been tipped to beat Aston Villa to this “major signing”.
