West Ham seem in pole position to sign Evan Ferguson amid Brighton decision
Brighton are not expected to decide whether Evan Ferguson can leave until the end of the month amid interest from West Ham United, according to The Times.
The newspaper reported via their website on 1 January that the Irons have followed the Ireland international ahead of a potential transfer swoop, while Fulham also admire him.
However, Julen Lopetegui’s side appear to have an advantage over the Cottagers as the Seagulls will definitely not loan the striker to a club rivalling them for European qualification.
West Ham have advantage over Fulham for Evan Ferguson
The Hammers, therefore, appear to be in the pole position to sign the 20-year-old during the ongoing transfer window, although they might have to wait until the end of the month.
Brighton are currently placed 10th in the Premier League, sitting two points behind eighth-placed Fulham.
West Ham, meanwhile, are unlikely to compete for Europe this season as they sit 13th in the table and are only separated from the relegation zone by eight points.
While that is not ideal for the East London outift’s side by any means, it could act in their favour when it comes to the pursuit for Ferguson.
The Irishman has had a frustrating time under Fabian Hurzeler at the Amex Stadium this season, making just two Premier League starts so far.

He has been restricted to just 220 minutes of league action and has only found the back of the net just once.
A loan move, therefore, appears to be on the cards for Ferguson this window unless there is a drastic turn of events at Brighton, with the Irons keen on acquiring his services.
In other West Ham news, Lopetegui snubbed the chance to sign this Wolves star in the summer.
