West Ham retain interest in Harry Maguire, loan and permanent move on the cards – Sky Sports
West Ham are still exploring a move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, according to Sky Sports News.
The sports broadcaster reported online (20 July) that David Moyes’ side are continuing to look into a move for the 30-year-old, either as a loan or on a permanent basis.
However, while the interest remains, it is still believed that wages could be a stumbling block in any potential deal for the England international.

The Hammers previously failed with a loan offer for the out-of-favour Manchester United man, as reported by The Guardian (17 July).
Decision time
Maguire now needs to decide what is more important to him, money or playing. At Old Trafford, he is likely to be paid a much more handsome wage, without getting many minutes.
Whereas at the London Stadium, he would almost certainly start week in and week out, although he would have to take a wage cut in order to do so.

However, with the European Championships approaching next summer, it is going to be very important that the central defender has some game time and match fitness under his belt otherwise he could struggle to get into Gareth Southgate’s side.
Walking away from a club like Manchester United is understandably very difficult, but after being stripped of the captaincy and often criticised by his own fans, it is clear his time is up in Manchester.
It is now up to the player himself whether to walk away and start getting his career back on track or to remain and see out his contract.
In other West Ham news, a striker could be on his way out of the London Stadium.
