West Ham ready upgrade with ‘Aaron Ramsdale transfer lined up’ after relegation
West Ham United already want to sign Southampton goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the summer.
The Hammers are expected to be active in the summer transfer window as Graham Potter attempts to put his fingerprints on the squad at the London Stadium.
Potter is currently working with a group of players he didn’t personally sign, and while many of them will be set to stay, there’s no doubt that he will want to bring in some players of his own choosing.
A goalkeeper is a position that has been identified as one to improve for next season, and Ramsdale has emerged as an early target.

Ramsdale has a tough Premier League record
It has been a season to forget for Ramsdale, with the 26-year-old having conceded 57 goals in 24 Premier League appearances throughout this campaign.
Southampton’s relegation has already been confirmed, marking the third time that Ramsdale has been the first-choice goalkeeper of a team that has gone down from the top flight after previous spells with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.
That’s a worrying situation for some West Ham fans, given how close they have been to the relegation zone throughout the majority of the season.

Writing in The Times, Martin Samuels shared that Ramsdale is wanted by West Ham, with the Irons needing upgrades on Alphonse Areola and Lukasz Fabianski.
He said: “It really is not Aaron Ramsdale’s fault that he is about to drop into the Championship for a third time. It is, however, a reflection of his abilities that not once has he remained there.
“Now, relegated a third time, with Southampton, it is reported he is wanted by West Ham United.
“Alphonse Areola isn’t good enough for West Ham, and Lukasz Fabianski was, but is 40 this month. Ramsdale, at 26, would be a necessary upgrade, and a smart one.”

Ramsdale will want to remain in the Premier League
Given that Ramsdale was called into Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, it is likely that he will want to remain in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper is going to be pushing Jordan Pickford for the number one spot in the Three Lions setup under the new England boss, but playing in the top flight will be crucial in making that happen.
A move to West Ham would allow that to happen for Ramsdale, as it would then be up to his performance levels to dictate whether or not he dislodges Pickford.
Areola being dubbed not good enough may feel harsh, but the Frenchman has had plenty of opportunities, while being dropped for Fabianski on several occasions.
It may be time for a new era at the London Stadium, and it may start from the very back.
