West Ham eye Liverpool star who outperformed Mbappe
West Ham are in the market for attacking signings this summer, and the latest target from Liverpool could be a game-changer.
The signings made by West Ham so far this summer have been solid, but the lack of them is certainly cause for alarm ahead of the new campaign.
Graham Potter needs reinforcements if he is to have any chance of putting last season’s misery behind him, and with 11 days until the campaign gets underway, time is running out.
With that said, the Hammers have now been linked with a move for a Liverpool forward who outperformed Kylian Mbappe in one key statistic last season.

Ben Doak could be a game-changer for West Ham
West Ham are yet to replace Mohammed Kudus, but according to journalist David Lynch via X (5 August), they have set their sights on Liverpool’s Ben Doak.
“Ben Doak understood to be attracting major interest this summer, with West Ham and Wolves among the clubs keen,” Lynch posted.
“Liverpool rejected £20m offers from both Ipswich and Crystal Palace in January and the winger is the subject of similar attention in this window.”
The Scotsman spent the last campaign on loan at Middlesbrough, where he registered 10 goal contributions in 24 appearances, and just generally impressed with his ability going forward.
- Joined Liverpool from Celtic as a teenager
- Made Reds debut in the 2022/23 season
- 10 goal contributions on loan in the Championship
Liverpool have already rebuffed bids in the region of £20million for the 19-year-old, with Wolves, Crystal Palace and Ipswich also in the mix.
On the face of it, it might not seem like an overly ambitious move for the Irons, but after what Doak achieved last season, it could become very attractive very quickly.
What did Doak outperform Mbappe in?
Doak was a threat in front of goal for Boro last season, but his game revolved entirely around his low centre of gravity and ability to dribble with the ball.
Via talkSPORT, Doak was averaging five dribbles into the box per 90, compared to Mbappe’s three, while Mohamed Salah was the same.
Now, Doak is far from being on Mbappe’s level, but given his age and tendency to be direct going forward, he could be a perfect addition to West Ham.
