West Ham ready Noah Okafor transfer after recent medical drama

West Ham are interested in AC Milan attacker Noah Okafor, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Italian newspaper reports in its print edition (page 8, 20 January) that the Hammers could swoop for the 24-year-old, with Bournemouth also mentioned.

It states that the Swiss attacker was set for a loan move to RB Leipzig but the German side backed out after the medical was completed.

Are West Ham finally set to sign a striker?

The Irons have been searching for a new attacker since summer addition Niclas Fullkrug was ruled out for three months with little success.

Star attacker Michail Antonio is also out of action for the foreseeable future with injuries that he sustained in a car accident on 7 December.

The Hammers’ top goalscorer, Jarrod Bowen, is also unavailable having suffered a broken foot in the 5-0 loss to Liverpool on 29 December.

The Hammers desperately need goals as shown in the 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Saturday (18 January) when they struggled to create chances.

The recruitment team needs to secure a striker before the winter transfer window ends on 3 February, otherwise, Graham Potter will struggle to overturn the East London club’s fortunes.

Okafor could be a good option if he can overcome his injury issues, he scored six goals in 28 Serie A matches last season.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been urged to seal a permanent deal for Carlos Soler by his parent club.
