West Ham ready new bid to sign Sevilla forward En-Nesyri

West Ham are readying a new bid to sign Morocco forward Youssef En-Nesyri in the summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper reports the Irons fell short with a bid for the 23-year-old in January after Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax.

It is understood that David Moyes wants to strengthen other positions as well as the centre-forward area in the summer and is “keen to add a central defender and support in midfield”.

Can En-Nesyri do it in England?

That’s always the question on our minds when we see a striker from abroad being linked with a move to West Ham.

Haller shone in Germany but completely flopped in the Premier League with the Hammers and has since been shipped back to continental Europe and is doing well with Ajax in the Netherlands.

En-Nesyri has done all he can do in Spain this season with Sevilla, who could technically still win the La Liga title with just three matches left to play.

The former Leganes striker has scored 23 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions for Julien Lopetegui’s side with six of those coming in the Champions League.

He scored twice against Borussia Dortmund in the knock-out stages but unfortunately couldn’t help his side progress to the quarter-finals.

There are reasons to the slightly concerned about En-Nesyri though because while he might have grabbed two goals in one game versus Dortmund, who haven’t been at their best this term, he’s failed to score in matches against Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid this term.

That is 11 games against top teams where he’s failed to score.

Is that concerning for someone who West Ham need to hit the ground running if they sign in the summer?

We’d be lying if it wasn’t something that caught our attention.

Still, En-Nesyri could be a good signing and as he’s young, he’s someone who could grow into English football if he’s handed time.

In other West Ham news, fans are excited by speculation linking the Hammers with this “class” Premier League playmaker.
