West Ham are interested in signing Mory Gbane from Stade de Reims.

The Hammers are yet to make a new signing yet this summer after falling into the Championship.

Frustration is already building for Nuno Espirito Santo as he remains yet to bring any fresh faces to the London Stadium.

Keiber Lamadrid’s loan move was made permanent earlier in the summer and that remains the only business done in E20 so far.

That could soon change as the Irons look to add to their midfield conversation for the new season.

Gbane has emerged as a target to do exactly that as he continues to catch the eye in France.

West Ham could pay 'substantial' fee for Mory Gbane

It looks as if Edson Alvarez is on his way out of the London Stadium in a loan move to Koln.

He won't be returning after his temporary spell at Fenerbahce, while Mateus Fernandes has already completed his exit.

There is now a need for new blood in the middle of the park in East London.

That has seen attention turn to Gbane as Foot Mercato reported interest from West Ham on Friday.

The 25-year-old's future appears to lie away from France after featuring for over a year at Stade de Reims.

The Ligue 2 outfit are willing to let the Ivory Coast international go, but only if a "substantial offer comes their way".

Who is West Ham target Gbane?

The defensive-minded midfielder has two senior international caps to his name after making a positive impression with Reims.

He is coming off the back of his first full season with the Red and Whites where he established himself as a key player in the middle of the park.

Gbane is famed for his physicality and ability to win possession and snuff out attacks before they can fully begin.

That doesn't take away from his quality with the ball at his feet as he is technically great when passing, which may come as a surprise for the six foot two Ivorian.

That is the sort of player that the Irons need moving into the Championship, especially with the future of someone like Soungoutou Magassa up in the air.
