West Ham ready bid to sign Oumar Solet as shock exit decision made already

West Ham are set for a busy summer transfer window, and one new interesting target has now emerged.

Graham Potter will be keen to see his squad strengthened all over the pitch, and West Ham may wish to boost their defensive options.

A new centre-back could be on the club’s radar, whilst full-back Vladimir Coufal looks set to depart on a free transfer.

Multiple signings in the back line may be required, and one defender who has impressed in Serie A is now on West Ham’s radar.

West Ham interested in Udinese defender Oumar Solet

With defensive reinforcements sought out, West Ham have now been linked with Udinese defender Oumar Solet.

Solet joined Udinese in January, but has since impressed in Serie A, and TEAMTALK have now reported that West Ham are ready to compete with Lazio and Inter Milan for his signature.

It is understood that the Hammers are ready to make a bid for the former France youth international, who’s keen on a move away from Udinese already.

The 25-year-old stands at 1.92m tall, and would add a lot of steel to a West Ham defence which has conceded 49 goals in 29 Premier League games.

It is unclear what kind of fee would be needed to sign the Frenchman, but it is claimed that the player is ready to make a step up this summer, and Udinese are anticipating his departure.

West Ham could have signed Oumar Solet for free

West Ham may be kicking themselves, as their target Solet actually joined Udinese for free, in what could have been the ideal market opportunity in January.

Solet was surprisingly released from his contract at RB Salzburg, for whom he made over 100 appearances, and was available as a free agent.

The centre-back has been on the radar of a lot of clubs for some time. Solet was actually linked with West Ham last summer, before Jean-Clair Todibo was signed, but there is now a possibility that both line up together next season.

West Ham should perhaps be more proactive in the market when these opportunities present themselves, with a player of Solet’s age and profile not often available on a free mid-season, but should they sign him and he succeeds, they will be happy with the outcome regardless.
