West Ham reach Guido Rodriguez agreement as three club chase over

West Ham and Guido Rodriguez have finally come to an agreement over his future.

Rodriguez is out of contract at West Ham in the summer, where he has struggled since joining from Real Betis in 2024.

The Argentine midfielder has featured six times for the Hammers this season, with most of those appearances coming from the bench.

The Hammers are understood to have an option to extend his London Stadium deal by one year, and his future is clear after the latest update.

Guido Rodriguez seals West Ham exit as new club found

Rodriguez has had a miserable time at West Ham, unable to force his way into the side, but it looks like his nightmare is over.

Guillem Balague claimed on 23 January that Rodriguez and the Hammers have agreed to terminate his contract early.

He stated that the 31-year-old will join Valencia, who have beaten Italian club Juventus and fellow Spaniards Espanyol to his signature.

Rodriguez will surely go down as one of the worst West Ham signings ever

Many supporters thought it was a quality piece of business when the East London side secured a World Cup winner on a free transfer, but that has not proven to be the case.

Rodriguez has not been able to become a Premier League regular under several managers, including Nuno Espirito Santo, and found himself on the periphery constantly.

The veteran has made 31 Hammers appearances in total, with seven yellow cards, and only one goal contribution in that time.

The signing of Rodriguez is an example of why the Irons are in the situation that they are in right now, he has proven to be a dismal addition, offering basically nothing, and there has been far too many of them recently.

The Hammers need to become better in the market, preferably in the last few days of the winter transfer window, otherwise, they may be relegated to the Championship.

If they fail to do so, it could set the E20 club back even further than they already are, and leave them stranded outside of the top-flight.

Normally, it would be a bad decision to let a player leave for free when they still have time on their deal, but getting Rodriguez out by whatever means necessary can only be regarded as a positive.
