West Ham ‘PSR shocker’ amid £75m Bowen to Liverpool transfer news
West Ham United have a difficult summer transfer window ahead, and the club are in a tough position financially.
It has been a disappointing season for West Ham, who are now 16th in the Premier League table, and plenty of changes are needed in the summer.
Graham Potter inherited a mess from Julen Lopetegui, and his squad now needs something of a rebuild in the transfer window.
The Hammers face a problem, though, as their spending power will be heavily limited this summer, unless their budget is supplemented with a huge sale.

West Ham financial issues revealed
West Ham are now in a position where they need to sell before they can buy this summer, and this may bring about some uncomfortable conversations.
The West Ham board has reportedly told Hammers News (7 April) that the club will only be able to spend after sales, with the previous summer placing them in a difficult situation in terms of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Team | Played | Wins | Draws | Losses | Scored | Conceded | Position |
West Ham | 31 | 9 | 8 | 14 | 35 | 52 | 16th |
This will mean that unless there is a big sale, the spending power this summer will be heavily limited. Given that Potter wants to reduce the age of his squad, and be able to bring in different players, this does not bode well for next season.
However, West Ham could consider one very unpopular sale to ease their issues.

Bowen sale could ease West Ham financial issues
Star attacker Bowen has had another outstanding campaign despite the team’s issues, and is the top scorer.
Ian Darke recently told West Ham Zone that an offer of around £75m for star attacker Bowen would simply have to be considered, given the financial difficulties at the club.
He also told Liverpool News that Liverpool would consider a move for Bowen should Mohamed Salah depart this summer.
However, even if West Ham are tempted to consider a huge sale, Hammers News also revealed that as it stands, Bowen will not be sold this summer, with the board set to take a firm stance over his future.
Even if it does help ease the pressure on the finances, selling Bowen would be a disaster on the pitch, and fan fury would negate any positives gained in terms of PSR.
