West Ham player set for exit in next 10 days after Nuno Espirito Santo talks, Saudi move possible

West Ham United have already made two additions to their ranks in January but Nuno Espirito Santo could now be set to sanction an exit.

Nuno has managed to strengthen his centre-forward options following Niclas Fullkrug’s loan move to AC Milan.

The Hammers signed Pablo Felipe from Gil Vicente last week, before confirming Taty Castellanos’ arrival at the London Stadium on Monday.

Now, Callum Wilson could be set to depart, just five months after joining West Ham on a free transfer.

Callum Wilson to leave after Nuno meeting

Wilson is expected to leave West Ham in the January transfer window, with it becoming clear that he is not in Nuno’s plans for the second half of the season.

The former Newcastle United striker has scored four Premier League goals for the Hammers since his summer arrival, but has failed to string together consistent starts under the Portuguese manager.

According to Kaveh Solhekol via Sky Sports News on Tuesday evening, Wilson has had an “adult conversation” with Nuno, who explained that he is now the third-choice centre-forward at the London Stadium, following the additions of Pablo and Castellanos.

“Wilson sat down and had an adult conversation with Nuno, who explained the situation to him – ‘we’ve signed two forwards and you’re effectively third choice’,” Solhekol said.

That message has landed and I’d expect him to leave West Ham in the next 10 days. Interestingly, one of the options he’ll have is to join a club in Saudi Arabia.”

Nuno takes big risk with latest West Ham transfer activity

It has been clear since the moment he took over from Graham Potter at the London Stadium that Nuno is not a fan of Wilson.

The former England international was left on the bench for each of Nuno’s first three matches in charge, with youngster Callum Marshall even above him in the pecking order.

When Wilson eventually forced his way into the side, he scored three goals in two Premier League games.

The veteran striker’s form has tailed off in recent months, but it is still a huge risk to let him leave in January, as the relegation fight really heats up.

Wilson is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, and if the new signings don’t hit the ground running, his departure could cost West Ham their top-flight status.
