West Ham paying £12m to sign Mohamed Bayo will be a bargain

West Ham United target striker Mohamed Bayo will only be allowed to leave his current club Clermont Foot for a fee in the region of £12million, according to Foot Mercato.

The French report suggests that the Ligue 1 side is ready to part ways with the Guinea international but will not accept anything else than the original valuation.

The Hammers are expected to face competition from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Everton, Marseille and Eintracht Frankfurt for the signature of the 24-year-old.

David Moyes has prioritized the striker position to give competition to Michael Antonio next season, who struggled with fitness in the previous campaign.

Right Striker

Bayo is a versatile striker who many believe have the combined attributes of players like Luis Suarez, Mauro Icardi, and Paulo Alcacer [The Athletic].

The 24-year-old is the kind of striker that likes to roam around the 18-yard-box and has an eye for goal. He is never stationary which makes it difficult for the defenders to mark him properly.

Moyes knows that he cannot go into another season where the Hammers will be playing in as many as four competitions, including the Europa Conference League, with just one recognized striker.

Despite the threat that Antonio has, it is hard to see him give his absolute best every week because of injury concerns.

Therefore, West Ham are doing the right thing by going after someone like Bayo in the ongoing transfer window.

In the previous campaign, Bayo represented his current club in 32 matches in the league competition, scoring 14 times and providing five assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
