West Ham: Paco Jemez offers new hope Crysencio Summerville could stay
West Ham are poised for a big summer transfer window, with Crysencio Summerville assured to be one of the bigger stories.
The Hammers ace shone for the Netherlands in their World Cup opening game against Japan, and the football world is surely set to notice.
With a season in the Championship inbound, questions remain over which Irons stars will be left in E20 come the end of the transfer window.
And Summerville is one of the more prominent names in that regard.
So far, West Ham are refusing to budge on their valuation over Mateus Fernandes, and it would not be a shock to see the same for Summerville.
However, there could be a chance he does not leave amid new quotes from assistant coach Paco Jemez.
What has Paco Jemez said about Crysencio Summerville?
West Ham fans will be hoping their top players remain at London Stadium next season as they look to bounce immediately back to the Premier League.
The likes of Fernandes, Jarrod Bowen and Summerville have all been subject to interest from top European sides.
However, in the case of the Dutchman, there could be some new hope he may remain next season after what assistant coach Jemez has said.
Speaking to Marca, Jemez stated: "I hope he stays at West Ham for many years. The goal is to return to the Premier League, to achieve that, we need players like Summerville."
"However, if he has a good World Cup, it will be difficult to keep him."
The West Ham assistant coach also went onto describe the winger as "one of the best" in the Premier League and that he is a "big team player" who could play for any top side in Europe.
So far interest in Summerville has mainly been from AS Roma, but reports have recently shared the Serie A side are unable to meet the wage demands of the winger.
Could West Ham keep Summerville?
Shareholder Daniel Kretinsky has recently said that West Ham do not need to sell their top stars as was previously suggested.
So, in that vein, Summerville could remain at London Stadium. Of course, it could ultimately come down to whether the player pushes for a move away
It would not be a surprise to see Summerville eager to move elsewhere rather than spend a season in England's second tier.
Additionally, Jemez's comment about the forward having a good World Cup are seemingly already coming true as he starred for the Netherlands.
While for months it looked like the Dutchman was destined to leave, with the latest comments from Kretinsky, and now Jemez, that may not be the case.
