West Ham on ‘red alert’ for Harry Maguire as January exit expected
West Ham United are on “red alert” on Harry Maguire as the Manchester United centre-back is expected to leave Old Trafford this January, according to TEAMTalk.
The website reported (18 October) that Maguire is keen to remain in Manchester as he is concerned for his international future, but the Hammers remain interested after their £30million bid was rejected this summer.
TEAMTalk claims a £35million package could secure a season, but Manchester United want £40million for the £80million man whom David Moyes believes can get back to his best in Stratford.

Back again
Maguire would be a good option for West Ham and would add some depth to the backline. The attacking areas, except perhaps the striker role, are sorted, while the midfield does not need any chance.
If the Hammers were to boost the squad this January, then a defensive signing should be considered. Maguire would come with plenty of Premier League experience and something to prove.
However, he seems quite set on life at Old Trafford. The report claims Maguire feels his chances of maintaining his England spot would diminish if he left Manchester United, but surely regular game time in a side like West Ham would boost his chances.

He would surely want to prove his doubters wrong and join an environment where he would be admired and respected as a leader. Moyes seems very eager to acquire his services, so his fondness for Maguire could be a draw for the club.
West Ham may consider a younger option. At 30 years old, he would have very little resale value and considering the significant fee required to buy him, their money could be better spent elsewhere.
If Maguire doesn’t want the move, then Hammers fans should move on.
