West Ham ‘offered’ out of favour Real Madrid forward – report

West Ham have been offered the chance to sign Mariano Diaz from Real Madrid, according to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Diaz, 27, looks set to leave the Bernabeu in January after being limited to few appearances over the past two years.

With the Hammers potentially looking for a new striker in January Diaz could fit the bill and Corriere dello Sport claim the Los Blancos striker is a ‘solution’ for West Ham.

The Italian outlet claims that Real Madrid will offer Diaz to West Ham in a deal that would see the forward join the club on loan with an obligation to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.

Despite the fact that Zidane is keen to get rid of Diaz, the Frenchman started him in Madrid’s weekend game against Villarreal and Diaz rewarded his manager with a goal.

It was his first start of the season and he rescued a point for his side as he made a case for why he should be kept at the Bernabeu.

Similarly, David Moyes may have had his striker worries eased after Sebastien Haller scored for the Hammers in their 1-0 win over Sheffield United on Sunday.

It was Haller’s second Premier League goal of the season and his sixth in all competitions which may have convinced Moyes that he doesn’t need to splash out on another striker during the January transfer window.

The transfer rumour mill is speeding up as we approach January and this could be one of many reports we will see that links the Hammers to a player who will never arrive at the London Stadium.

If West Ham are to move for a striker in January we hope it isn’t one who hasn’t played regular football for two years and has the potential to become yet another big name flop.
