West Ham offer Lucas Ocampos contract in shock transfer development
West Ham have offered a contract to Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos ahead of transfer deadline day, according to German Garcia Grova.
The TYC Sports journalist reported on 29 August that talks are ongoing between Sevilla and the Hammers for the Argentina international.
With the contract being offered, the 30-year-old is evaluating it ahead of making a decision.
Via X, Grova wrote: “West Ham opened negotiations with Sevilla to sign Lucas Ocampos.
“The winger received the club’s contractual proposal and is evaluating it. Monterrey is optimistic about his signing.”
West Ham should feel confident signing Lucas Ocampos ahead of Monterrey
The Hammers’ presence in the Premier League offers Ocampos a platform to compete at one of the highest levels of club football, which is globally recognised for its competitiveness and visibility.
This could enhance his profile and potentially lead to further opportunities in top-tier European football.
Julen Lopetegui’s style of play might suit Ocampos’ attributes, particularly his versatility and work rate, which could see him thrive.
Additionally, the financial aspect, including salary and potential bonuses in the Premier League, might be more lucrative than what Monterrey could offer.
He’d also want to be a regular for Argentina and the chances of that are higher if he’s playing for the Hammers.
Time is running out and the Hammers need to act quickly if they are genuinely serious about signing him.
In other West Ham news, the release clause has been revealed as the Hammers have launched an approach to seal another deadline-busting transfer.
