West Ham United offer Girona star Aleix Garcia £65,000 per week to hijack Bayer Leverkusen transfer

West Ham United have tabled an offer to Girona and Aleix Garcia to hijack Bayer Leverkusen’s move for the midfielder, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Writing on their website (4 June), the Spanish news outlet report that the Hammers have tabled a £13.6million bid (Eduard Sola, 3 June) to Girona to gazump the Bundesliga champions’ offer for the Spaniard.

But they have also tabled a contract offer worth €4million (£3.4m) per year (£65,000 per week) to convince the 26-year-old to join the Premier League instead of moving to Germany.

The whole Irons fan base knows that there is going to be plenty of transfer business done this summer, whether it being outgoings or incoming.

Several players are set to head out with Danny Ings and Flynn Downes interesting Southampton [TalkSPORT], while Lucas Paqueta’s future is up in the air with the FA pushing for a lifetime ban [The Sun, 4 June] after he was charged with spot-fixing.

But there have been several reports that the club are tabling offers for players in a number of positions, while they’re also closing in on a deal to sign Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras too.

The aggression in the transfer market is something that fans have been asking for over the last few windows, with David Moyes’ more patient approach earning him the “dithering Dave” nickname.

But Steidten is keen to shed that reputation at the club and move to bring players in quickly, and this approach of going in with a big bid is likely to make people take West Ham seriously.
