West Ham offer emerges in Ziyech transfer twist just months after Chelsea exit

Galatasaray have offered ex-Chelsea forward Hakim Ziyech to West Ham ahead of the January transfer window opening, according to the Mail on Sunday

The newspaper reported via their print edition on 29 December (page 89) that the Irons are looking to sign two new forwards in the coming weeks after Michail Antonio suffered horrific injuries in a car crash and Niclas Fullkrug’s poor form.

It is understood that Danny Ings could leave the London Stadium but Morocco winger Ziyech, 31, is someone who could potentially be brought in after he was offered to the Hammers by Galatasaray just months after they signed him from Chelsea in the summer.

Who will West Ham sign in January transfer window?

It could be a bit of a busy month at the London Stadium.

Julen Lopetegui’s men are finally starting to find their feet in the Premier League but after such a big summer transfer window, this season has been quite a disappointment for West Ham fans.

A lot of money was spent earlier this year, so it’s unlikely that the Irons will go big in the coming weeks.

However, there are a number of players who could be sold that would no doubt free up some funds for Lopetegui and Tim Steidten to spend.

Should they spend any of that money on Ziyech? No chance.

He made over 100 Premier League appearances for Chelsea in his time at Stamford Bridge but he was entirely forgettable with the West Londoners clearly in a better place without him.

He was called “magical” by Sky Sports Italy’s Angelo Mangiante in June last year but that’s hardly a view that summarises his entire spell at Stamford Bridge.

The former Ajax attacker has also struggled in Turkey with Galatasaray, having failed to score a single goal and only playing 320 minutes in 11 appearances across all competitions.

If Ziyech was younger, he’d maybe be worth the risk but he will turn 32 in March and should be avoided by the Hammers.

In other West Ham news, Man City have decided if they’ll let this player join the Irons in January.
