West Ham now want to sign defender who’s been sentenced to prison in shock twist
West Ham could be set to realise their transfer interest in a defender despite news of a prison sentence this week.
The Hammers are in need of change in their squad moving into the new season after a terrible season in the Premier League.
This could see Graham Potter overhaul his squad as he looks to put his stamp on the London Stadium, months after joining the club in February.
Defensive options may be near the top of the Englishman’s list, but it may come as a shock to learn one option has now been sent to prison.

West Ham linked with Rodrigo Huescas despite prison sentence
There would be no surprise to see the Hammers utilise a wide breadth of transfer options under the ex-Brighton head coach in the summer.
This certainly worked for him and Kyle Macaulay on the south coast and could be replicated in East London in the coming months.
This has seen the Irons linked with an approach for Copenhagen defender Huescas, who could be set to play his part in an overhaul in E20, according to Ole (7 May).
The Mexico international has been tracked by Potter’s side for many months, with a recent performance against Brondby convincing the Hammers of his qualities.
With that being said, the 21-year-old may have scuppered a move to the London Stadium for himself after being sentenced to prison for 20 days for breaching traffic violations in Denmark.
The right-sided ace will now have his driving license revoked, his car confiscated and will face a fine ahead of his stint in a cell.
The positive point of this sentence for Huescas is that he has avoided deportation, which could see a deal still be on the table for the Irons moving into the summer.

West Ham could still sign Huescas
It does feel that the Copenhagen ace could represent a positive signing at the London Stadium, especially if Vladimir Coufal were to leave.
In a five-back formation, the Mexican would certainly prove to be an ideal option to get up and down the pitch and have a telling impact.

This could allow for a positive combination with Jarrod Bowen on the flank, which could make a difference for the Hammers’ fortunes next season.
It is currently unclear what this prison sentence will mean for the defender, but it doesn’t appear to be ending the Irons’ interest.
