West Ham now in active talks for Elye Wahi transfer as Potter stance shared
West Ham United are now in “active talks” to sign Elye Wahi from Marseille in the winter transfer window, according to ESPN.
The US outlet reported via their website (14 January) that the Frenchman is now “on top of their shortlist” after the injury Niclas Fullkrug sustained.
The report also adds that new West Ham manager Graham Potter has greatly admired the attacker since his time in charge of Brighton.
Other names have also been linked with a switch to the London Stadium with both Gaetan Laborde and Jhon Duran also linked with a move to Potter’s team.
Elye Wahi would be a solid addition for West Ham United
One thing that West Ham desperately need from the winter transfer window is a new number nine.
Over the last few seasons, the Hammers have been cursed with their striker choices as the likes of Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings have failed to live up to expectations in recent years.
While Fullkrug was finally starting to get settled and perhaps even looking likely to help the Hammers out of the rut they’ve found themselves in, he ended up getting sidelined for yet another three months.

At the moment, it’s unclear whether the Hammers will even bring a new striker in but the fact he was described as “prolific” by football scout Jacek Kulig and the fact that Potter evidently admires the Frenchman, it feels like it could be a match made in heaven.
In fact, to make things even better, the former RC Lens attacker is still only 22 years old so even if the Hammers did invest a fee worth over £20million in him, there’s still plenty of room for the attacker to grow.
