West Ham: Nigel Reo-Coker couldn't be more wrong over Jarrod Bowen exit shout
West Ham face a summer of uncertainty and captain Jarrod Bowen is right amongst it.
The Englishman has proven to be one of the Irons' greatest players, at least in the modern history of the club.
Bowen scored the goal to bring the UEFA Conference League back to East London, forever etching his name in the claret and blue.
However, with a big decision over his future after relegation, former West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has admitted he would question Bowen based on his choice.
Speaking live on air, the 42-year-old has completely missed the mark with his latest suggestion.
And frankly, not many West Ham fans would agree with his sentiment with the transfer window firmly open.
What has Nigel Reo-Coker said about Jarrod Bowen and West Ham?
Reo-Coker is a former West Ham captain, so he knows the responsibilities that Bowen has had on his head.
There would have been no one more disappointed about the Irons' relegation last season than the skipper himself.
Since that outcome, Bowen has been touted for a move out of East London, and Reo-Coker would question the winger if he did not secure one.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Hammer said: "You'd have to say you question his ambition. I think what he has done, he has been a great servant to the football club, that is the reality of it.
"He's done so much at the club, he's made a name for himself. I think any West Ham fan to have any ill-will towards him if he leaves now would be naive."
While he may have hit the nail on the head by suggesting West Ham fans could not begrudge Bowen for wanting to play at a higher level, suggesting his ambition should be questioned is a ludicrous point to make.
Bowen loves West Ham, and he has made that ever so clear throughout the years.
The 29-year-old sticking around at London Stadium to help the side he captains back into the top flight would be a sign of personal ambition.
And that is enough ambition within itself.
What is the latest on Bowen's future?
There has been little movement on the Bowen front, and with the Englishman on break, he may be waiting to assess his options.
However, during June, Bowen's wife, Dani Dyer had renovations completed in their family home as confirmed via social media.
While not a confirmation of Bowen's future, that could be a mere suggestion that he is at least staying within London.
Chelsea have been touted as a possible destination, with Tottenham Hotspur also entering the fray.
While West Ham fans will not begrudge Bowen for leaving, they would rather not see him join any of those two outfits.
Ultimately, though, the hope is that the 29-year-old continues to score and assist goals in the claret and blue for years to come.
