West Ham nearing €45million blockbuster Danjuma agreement – report

West Ham are progressing in talks with Villarreal to sign Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Guardian journalist reported that work is in progress on a €45million (£38million) swoop for the 25-year-old striker and that the deal is so far down the line that Villarreal have already lined up his replacement.

According to Romano, West Ham want him to become one of the club’s marquee signings this summer and as they near agreement on a fee. Personal terms are yet to be agreed.

Romano said: “West Ham are progressing in talks with Villareal to sign Danjuma but personal terms have not yet been discussed.

“Work is in progress for a bit less than €45million and West Ham wants him to be one of their statement signings.

“Villareal are prepared to sign Umar Sadiq as his replacement.”

Statement Deal

If the Hammers are able to get this deal over the line, it would be a blockbuster deal for the club.

Danjuma would be their second most expensive signing, only £7 million less than the £45 million they spent on Sebastien Haller three years ago when they bought the Ivorian from Frankfurt.

It would be manager, David Moyes’s third signing of the summer after completing the signings of Alphonse Areola on a permanent deal from PSG for £8 million and centre-back, Nayef Aguerd, from Stade Rennais for £31 million.

West Ham

Danjuma would be an injection of firepower to their line which despite looking impressive last season, looked like it did require a different type of weapon in its arsenal at times, especially with the Hammers playing European football again this season.

Last season, the Hammers attained nine fewer points than they did in the 2020/21 season when they achieved an impressive 65 points.

They also scored 11 fewer goals than their 62 strikes in the 2020/21 season, and Danjuma, who scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, would with without a doubt, add more goals to the team.
