West Ham may get chance to test drive Santiago Gimenez as transfer no-go emerges
West Ham United are still in the hunt to sign AC Milan striker Santiago Gimenez at the end of the season.
West Ham were linked with Milan’s Gimenez ahead of the winter transfer window, as they have been pretty much every window over the past couple of years, but nothing materialised.
Instead, Taty Castellanos and Pablo arrived up top, as did Adama Traore in the wide areas.
However, Mexican outlet El Guardian report in their print edition on Thursday that West Ham are still in the hunt for Gimenez as they look ahead to next season.

West Ham not alone in Santiago Gimenez pursuit
The report adds that Sunderland and Wolves also have a keen interest in Gimenez, who looks likely to be on his way out of Milan.
However, Gimenez will not consider joining a team that gets relegated from the Premier League, effectively ruling Wolves out of the chase.
West Ham could themselves be ruled out on those grounds, of course, even if they have given themselves more than a fighting chance of staying up.
Furthermore, it is also reported that a loan move away from San Siro is looking the most realistic scenario for this summer as things stand.
That could therefore allow one of those eligible interested clubs to try-before-they buy when it comes to signing Gimenez permanently.
Would Jimenez be a smart buy for West Ham?
There is no doubt that another new attacker would come in handy at the London Stadium this summer, should Nuno Espirito Santo succeed in keeping the Hammers up.
As highlighted by the Sofascore graphic high up this page, however, Gimenez is far from a prolific attacker – something West Ham fans have become far too accustomed to.

The 24-year-old has yet to score or assist for Milan this season in nine Serie A appearances, eight of those being starts.
He has seven goals and five assists in 30 matches overall for Milan since arriving from Feyenoord in February last year.
Given he has converted just six of his 20 big chances, this appears to be one to steer clear of on the face of it.
