West Ham make three bids for Jhon Duran as ‘incredible’ Saudi Arabia decision made
West Ham have already made three bids for Jhon Duran this summer with Aston Villa rejecting all of them, according to the Sunday Mirror.
The paper reported via its print edition (28 July, page 71) that the Colombian is very keen on a move to the London Stadium, even rejecting an “incredible” and lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
Despite the mega wages on offer in the Middle East, Duran wants to play regularly under Julen Lopetegui who is also a fellow Spanish speaker.
However, Villa are currently playing hardball holding out for a £40million fee, with talks still ongoing.
West Ham United’s pursuit of Jhon Duran is heating up
West Ham’s pursuit of Duran is heating up, and both the club and the player are eager to see this transfer happen.
The Hammers have already made multiple bids, the latest exceeding £30million [Fabrizio Romano, July 25], but Aston Villa remain firm on their £40million valuation. For the East London club, securing a consistent goal-scorer like Duran is crucial, especially after struggling in front of goal last season.
The young Colombian has shown flashes of brilliance and is desperate for more playing time, which he sees as more likely at the London Stadium under Julen Lopetegui.
Duran’s desire to join the Hammers is clear, even risking the ire of Villa fans by signalling his intentions on social media.

He believes West Ham offer the best platform for him to showcase his talent regularly. Villa, having already been active in the transfer market, might eventually concede, especially if West Ham improve their offer [Evening Standard, July 26].
