West Ham make last-gasp loan bid for Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike

West Ham have re-entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Hugo Ekitike, making an offer for a season-long loan deal with an option to buy, which was rejected, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist shared via his personal Twitter account that the Hammers’ have had a £4.3million loan bid, with an option to buy for £25.7million at the end of the loan, in a combined £30million deal rejected by the French giants.

The offer from West Ham comes amid plenty of speculation, with Crystal Palace rivalling the East London club for his signature, but PSG are reluctant to let their striker leave on loan, it seems.

A last-gasp effort

The Hammers have left it late in their efforts to replace Gianluca Scamacca, who left the club for a return to Italy as he joined Atalanta earlier in the transfer window, as they are now making a late move to sign one of their top targets in the latter part of the transfer window.

Ekitike joined PSG last season but looks likely to leave the club tonight after his entourage fell out with the hierarchy at PSG amid the ongoing negotiations for the Parisiens to sign Randal Kolo Muani from Frankfurt [Jason Burt].

This should make the deal more simple for West Ham to complete, but a loan deal may be impossible today, as PSG would rather sell him on a permanent transfer to bring in funds for their ongoing negotiations with Frankfurt, as they look to push the move through.

West Ham

The Hammers have been looking to sign a new striker in the final days of the transfer window, after Scamacca left, leaving Danny Ings and Michail Antonio as the only options for David Moyes’ striker position, with neither guaranteed to provide goals over the course of a full season.

In other West Ham news, another transfer update has emerged as the deadline approaches.
