West Ham make Emmanuel Latte Lath approach with transfer sirens ready

West Ham United have made an approach for “Prized” Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath, according to TuttoMercatoWeb.

The Italian outlet reported on 17 December that the Irons have asked for information on the attacker as they track his progress in the Championship this season.

Latte Lath has scored eight goals in the second tier so far this term and has also garnered appreciation from Ipswich and Bundesliga clubs, with approaches sparking “sirens” in the transfer market.

With interest rising, Latte Lath’s agent Matthias Veneroso said: “Eight goals in the first part of the Championship – we expect something to happen in January.”

Emmanuel Latte Lath transfer must be top priority for West Ham

There’s been plenty to criticise and pick apart with the Hammers’ start to the season under Julen Lopetegui, and there’s one area of the Spaniard’s new-look squad which needs most attention.

Even before Michail Antonio suffered a car accident which will keep him out of action for the foreseeable future, the Irons weren’t scoring enough goals, and have only exacerbated an already-aging frontline.

Signing a 31-year-old Niclas Fullkrug as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran looks more foolish with every game, and with Antonio and Danny Ings aged 34 and 32 respectively, a younger option is needed.

At 25, Latte Lath would immediately be the only option up front for the Hammers who isn’t past his peak, and with his eight goals more than double the aforementioned trio combined, the transfer is a no-brainer.

With other clubs both in the Premier League and across the pond keen on the Ivorian, Middlesbrough will try to hike the price up, but the Irons are surely best placed to give Latte Lath the step-up he has earned.

In other West Ham news, an out-of-favour Irons player’s entourage have been approached over a potential move in January.
