West Ham make 'big play' for their next signing after Joel Veltman
West Ham United are already taking their next steps after moving to sign Joel Veltman.
The Dutchman departed the Amex at the end of the campaign and is available to the Hammers for nothing this summer.
He looks set to be announced at the London Stadium as a free transfer.
The versatile defender is coming off the back of six years with Brighton in the Premier League and will provide much-needed experience in E20.
Veltman will represent the first new signing of the summer for Nuno Espirito Santo as the Irons finally make a move in the market.
It doesn't appear that they will be done there as a move for Troy Parrott looks to be in the pipeline.

There's general positivity surrounding the addition of the ex-Ajax man.
On a free transfer there aren't very many downsides to his addition, especially in the Championship.
The only thing that many have suggested is that, he isn't the man to get the East London faithful excited for what's to come.
Parrott is certainly someone who could do that after several top seasons in the Netherlands.
It now looks as if the Irons are making their interest in the Republic of Ireland international known to AZ Alkmaar.
That comes as talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook reported on Thursday that West Ham are "making a big play" for the striker.
Parrott has long been a target at the London Stadium as a move could now be on the cards.
How much could West Ham pay for Parrott?
If the Irons are serious in their efforts to sign the Irishman, it will likely take a Championship record fee.
AZ aren't going to let their star go on the cheap, especially after putting up 41 goal involvements in 48 appearances across all competitions last season.
That has seen reported emerge from the Netherlands suggesting that Alkmaar want around £25million for his signature.
West Ham are seemingly willing to match that fee in a deal that would see Ipswich Town's £17.5m league record move for Sindre Walle Egeli blown out of the water.
It would represent a true statement of intent from the claret and blue outfit and may prove to be some of the best money they've spent in recent memory.
