West Ham make approach to sign Frendrup, £17m bid to be accepted

West Ham have learned how much they could have to pay to land Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup in the summer.

The Hammers appear to be keen on a busy transfer window at the London Stadium in the coming months after a difficult season.

Graham Potter has failed to get the best out of his side since coming in, and now has the perfect chance to put his stamp on the side moving forward.

This could see the Englishman look to bring in Frendrup as Genoa look resigned to losing the midfielder once the summer comes around.

West Ham learn Frendrup price tag at Genoa

With Tomas Soucek being linked with a move away from the London Stadium, it is little surprise that a midfield option will be targeted.

This comes as Carlos Soler also looks destined to depart once his loan spell from PSG comes to an end, leaving the centre of the pitch very light for the Hammers.

As a result, the 24-year-old Dane could prove to be a useful addition in East London after a productive season in Serie A.

Ben Jacobs has reported (7 May) that the versatile midfielder is set to leave Genoa in the summer, with the Irons among the sides showing an interest.

The Italian outfit could accept a fee in the region of £17million to sanction an exit deal for the two-time Denmark international.

This would tick one of Potter’s demands for the summer, as a number six and number eight are wanted by the ex-Chelsea head coach before the new campaign.

West Ham could benefit from Frendrup signing

There is a high level of interest in the ex-Brondby man’s signature moving into the summer, with both AC Milan and Fiorentina also linked.

That goes to show what sort of player the Irons could get their hands on if Potter can convince the Dane of his project at the London Stadium.

There are plenty of positive attributes of Frendrup which could make him a superb asset in the Premier League moving forward into next season.

It will just be interesting to see if the Hammers can tempt him in, especially with the likes of Soucek potentially set to leave.
