West Ham make approach to sign Feyenoord right-back Lutsharel Geertruida
West Ham United have enquired about signing right-back Lutsharel Geertruida from Feyenoord, according to HITC.
The online publication reported on Wednesday (31 July) that the Irons made their move while in discussions with Crysencio Summerville’s representatives.
It is claimed that United are closing in on a deal for Leeds United ace Summerville, but West Ham’s interest in Geertruida is not yet beyond an initial stage.
West Ham ramp up summer transfer business
The Irons look to be at an advanced stage in talks to sign Summerville from Leeds [Fabrizio Romano, 31 July] in what would be a massive transfer coup.
While things have gone quiet on the transfer front of late, this has still been a positive window in terms of incoming activity at London Stadium.
Tim Steidten now appears to be working on some finishing pieces, which may well include a move for versatile defender Geertruida.
The 24-year-old has also been linked with Liverpool in the past, so he is clearly a player on the radar of the Premier League’s elite.

However, given the interest has yet to evolve beyond simply reaching out with regards to the player’s availability, it appears this is not exactly a priority transfer for West Ham.
Instead, the club will likely keep looking at other options – namely Aaron Wan-Bissaka – before possibly coming back to this one further down the line.
