West Ham make approach to sign Eric Bailly on loan from Manchester United

West Ham have approached Manchester United with an enquiry about out-of-favour defender Eric Bailly, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Friday (12 August, page 81) that the Red Devils are considering permanent offers for the 28-year-old Ivory Coast centre-back from Marseille and Monaco.

It is understood that West Ham, Fulham, Sevilla, AC Milan and Roma have all been in contact to sign Bailly but have been exploring loan deals.

No thanks

Bailly hasn’t played a competitive fixture for Manchester United in the whole of 2022 and only managed seven appearances in all competitions throughout the whole of last season.

And in the season before that, he played just 21 times in total and although he has had some injury issues, Bailly’s absence from the Man United senior side is purely down to his terrible form.

West Ham could do with signing another new centre-back before the summer transfer window closes because the injuries we’ve suffered in that department have been a joke.

Kurt Zouma was the only available centre-back option for the defeat to Manchester City at the weekend so reinforcements are badly needed as soon as possible.

West Ham

But Bailly’s played so little for Man United that it would no doubt take him forever to get back up to speed.

The former Villarreal defender has really struggled in English football so the Hammers shouldn’t be touching him with a barge pole, really.

There have to be better options out there for David Moyes to sign.

Let’s leave Bailly for one of the French clubs to sign because he’s not cut out at all for a club with the ambitions of the Hammers.
