West Ham launch second bid for Alpha Toure as FC Metz stance emerges
West Ham seem serious about their interest in signing Alpha Toure.
West Ham have been active in the January window, with the arrivals of Taty Castellanos and Pablo, the former of whom has already scored his first goal for the club.
However, the Hammers are still eyeing reinforcements elsewhere, with FC Metz’s Toure believed to be high up on their list of targets.
West Ham have already had a £6million bid rejected for Toure, with reports now stating that a new approach has been made to bring him to the London Stadium.
West Ham make improved offer for Alpha Toure
One of West Ham’s biggest problems over the last few years has been their recruitment, and in particular, the way they seem to have mainly prioritised the arrivals of players with more experience.
That has its benefits, but also its downfalls, as showcased by West Ham’s current league position.
As a result, the Irons have targeted Toure to add some youth to their ageing midfield options, with a report from Sportsboom claiming a second offer has been made.
It’s believed that the bid made by West Ham is now worth around £9million, with personal terms unlikely to be an issue
However, FC Metz are reportedly against selling one of their key talents in January as they look to avoid relegation this season.
What type of player is Toure?
Another detail in the report is that Nuno Espirito Santo sees Toure as a replacement for Guido Rodriguez, who has been linked with an exit from West Ham in January.
His stats back that up.
Toure isnt going to create much, nor is he going to get supporters off their seats, but he already has all of the fundamentals of a defensive midfielder.
His 88.7 per cent pass accuracy is among the best in France for players of a similar age, and his 54 per cent duel win rate is more than respectable.
Toure can drive forward with the ball from midfield, which is something that the Hammers have lacked.
If a deal can be struck, it would be a good addition for the Hammers, but it remains to be seen if FC Metz will hold out for more money.
