West Ham ‘invite’ offers for four stars as new PSR concerns emerge

West Ham United are having to offload a handful of players to boost Graham Potter’s summer transfer budget.

Potter was only able to make one signing in the winter transfer window after taking the reins at the London Stadium, roping in Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton.

West Ham were running short on money after spending over £100million on new signings under Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten last summer.

The situation has not improved since the Irons still need to ensure they comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

West Ham to offload players to raise funds for Potter

West Ham are aware they need to cut costs and lower their wage bill to ensure they do not act against the PSR regulations, according to the Guardian.

That is why Potter is prepared to offload some of his players to boost his summer transfer budget, as reported by the newspaper via their website on Wednesday, 19 March.

The Hammers will, therefore, ‘invite’ offers for Niclas Fullkrug, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Guido Rodriguez and Emerson Palmieri.

West Ham spent £49m on these four players.

It is worth noting that West Ham signed Fullkrug, Mavropanos and Emerson for a combined sum of £49m between 2022 and 2024, while Rodriguez arrived on a free transfer.

It remains to be seen if they can recoup the amount of money they spent on those four signings when the window opens this summer.

Meanwhile, Potter and Kyle Macaulay have set their sights on adding ‘dynamism and youth’ to an ageing squad ahead of next season.

That is why they have held talks over the free transfer of Angel Gomes, who, though, is not tempted by their £100,000 a week offer.

Gomes’ Lille teammate Jonathan David is also of interest to the East London outfit, although talks have not progressed.

Potter’s side are monitoring Koni De Winter of Genoa, while Southampton’s Aaron Ramsdale and Burnley’s James Trafford are potential options to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
