West Ham interested in Slavia Prague striker Jan Kuchta
West Ham are in the hunt to sign Slavia Prague and Czech Republic centre-forward Jan Kutcha, according to Express journalist Ryan Taylor.
Writing on The Express website on Thursday, Taylor reported that the Hammers have been keeping a close eye on the 24-year-old, who’s scored 19 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions this season for Slavia.
Kuchta started his career at Slavia Prague but was re-signed from Slovan Liberec last summer.
Golden boy for golden boot
Kuchta has had a stunning first season back at Slavia Prague.
Not only has he helped fire Slavia to the Czech First League title but he is also on the verge of winning the golden boot.
Kuchta has scored 14 goals in 26 league appearances for Slavia this season, which is at least one more than anyone in the Czech top-flight.
In total, the ex-Slovan Liberec striker has netted 19 times in 40 appearances with two of those coming in the Europa League in the same game against OGC Nice.
We don’t need to remind West Ham fans about the growing Czech connection at the London Stadium but it does seem as though David Moyes and his recruitment team are eyeing more deals in that market.
Based on Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal’s success in the East End, can you blame them?
We don’t want to see them overdo it because at the end of the day, the Czech league is very weak outside of the top teams in Prague.
But Kuchta has scored goals for fun this season, is still relatively young at the age of 24 and West Ham need a new striker or two.
In other West Ham news, this 24-year-old has dropped a huge hint he’s leaving the Irons on Twitter.
